Remote Computer Labs
Available for enrolled students
The service allows students to connect to a remote desktop in a computer lab to access 30+ software titles from their own device. Students can interact with the desktop as if the data and programs were stored on their home computer.
Configure Device
To use the remote applications or remote computer labs, you will need to download the VMWare Horizon Client on your device. Then follow the step-by-step installation instructions.
Windows & Mac OS
- Open the VMware Horizon Client on your computer.
- Select Add Server.
- Type workspaces.unlv.edu for the connection server name. Select Connect.
- Use your ACE username and password to log in to RebelApps.
Note for Windows users: Windows 8 and above is highly recommended; however, Windows 7 SP1 will work.
Linux Device
- Open a Terminal, and type the command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-gtk2 - Start the Installer with the command:
sudo sh ./VMware-Horizon-Client-5.1.0-13956721.x64.bundle - Click Install.
- After the installation is complete, launch the VMware Horizon Client.
- Select Add Server.
- Type workspaces.unlv.edu for the connection server name. Select Connect.
- Use your ACE username and password to log in to RebelApps.
iOS, Android, or Chrome OS device
- Open the VMware Horizon Client on your computer.
- Select Add Server.
- Type workspaces.unlv.edu for the connection server name. Select Connect.
- Use your ACE username and password to log in to RebelApps.
Remote Environment
Your experience using software in a remote environment will be different than visiting a computer lab in person. You should consider a few things if you use a remote computer lab.
Save your work frequently
Save to Y: drive (UNLV network) or Z: drive (home computer)
