Active Directory Security Changes May 20 and May 25

Listen to this announcement

On Wednesday, May 20 and Monday, May 25, UNLV IT will update Active Directory security settings as part of Microsoft’s retirement of a legacy encryption protocol.

IT teams have reviewed campus technologies and, at this time, have not identified any services expected to be affected by this change.

  • Windows 11 devices and modern applications already include the required security updates and are not expected to experience disruptions.
  • However, older computers or legacy applications may experience authentication or login issues after the update.
  • If you are unable to sign in to your computer or receive other authentication-related error messages, please contact the IT Help Desk for assistance.

We appreciate your awareness of this change and monitoring your systems for any impacts.
