Important Info About macOS Sonoma Update

Apple is set to release macOS Sonoma on Sept. 26, but Mac users should hold off on updating their UNLV devices for now.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) needs time to test the new operating system’s compatibility with Sophos antivirus. Upgrading too soon could mean losing antivirus protection, potential security risks, and disruptions in work.

OIT is working diligently to test compatibility in the coming months. Once it is confirmed, users will be notified when it is safe to upgrade their UNLV devices to macOS Sonoma.

As this update brings excitement, everyone’s patience is appreciated as efforts get underway to ensure the upgrade is a smooth and secure experience. Anyone with questions should contact the IT Help Desk.
