UNLV IT’s Matt Kole Appointed Interim AVP for Infrastructure and Operations

UNLV Information Technology has named Matt Kole interim associate vice president (AVP) for infrastructure and operations, effective Sept. 1, 2025. He will serve in this role while a national search is conducted this fall for a permanent AVP.

Kole is admired for his transformative work leading the network development & engineering team. Since joining UNLV in 2021, he has strengthened teams, fostered collaboration, and delivered major initiatives. Notably, he successfully led UNLV’s $10M+ network modernization project and has built strong partnerships across campus. He is valued for his ability to drive progress, set high standards, and lead with both accountability and community in mind.

As interim AVP, Kole will oversee UNLV’s core IT infrastructure, including networks, enterprise systems, and the Operations Center. Bringing 24 years of experience in technology infrastructure, Kole’s steady leadership during this transition will be essential in ensuring the university’s technology foundation remains secure, reliable, and adaptable to support the evolving needs of our students, faculty, staff, and researchers.

Before joining UNLV, Kole oversaw global infrastructure at Mohegan Gaming, where he managed large-scale technology operations across multiple time zones and served as the technology lead for a multibillion-dollar international resort development.

Let’s congratulate Matt Kole on his appointment as interim associate vice president for infrastructure and operations. If you have any questions about IT infrastructure needs, feel free to reach out to him.
