Listen to this announcement

UNLV is opening a new Immersive Learning Lab that uses virtual reality (VR) to help students learn by doing. Located in BEH 114 (Frank and Estella Beam Hall), the lab has 30 VR headsets and immersive software that lets students go beyond textbooks and explore lessons in 3D.

Grand Opening Event
Tuesday, March 24
11 a.m.–2 p.m.
BEH 114
UNLV students, faculty, and staff are invited. Light refreshments and snacks will be available.

What You Can Experience
Live VR learning tool demonstrations will run throughout the lab’s grand opening.

  • Human Anatomy VR: Explore 3D models of the human body to better understand how it works.
  • Gravity Sketch: Design 3D digital art and print 3D creations.
  • Virtual Rebel Experience: Built by UNLV students, take a VR campus tour to climb the gym’s rock wall, participate in a chemistry experiment, and explore campus resources.

Supporting Teaching and Learning
The Immersive Learning Lab helps faculty bring VR into their classes. VR can help students better understand complex topics, stay engaged, and build skills for future careers. Students on the VR content development team, who built the  campus tour gained skills in VR development, coding, 3D modeling, and using AI tools.

The lab is a partnership between UNLV Libraries, the Teaching & Learning Commons, and Information Technology. To learn more about the Immersive Learning Lab, visit the Immersive Learning webpage or listen to the latest episode of The Real BS About AI podcast.
