New storage limit for Google Shared Drives will be implemented on April 24

On April 24, OIT will implement a new storage limit for new and existing Google Shared Drives. The new limit will be 25GB for Shared Drives created in the UNLVMail (unlv.edu) domain and 10GB for Shared Drives created in the Rebelmail (unlv.nevada.edu) domain.

Please note the new storage quote only affects Google Shared Drive and will not affect files stored within My Drive.

Extra storage for existing large Shared Drives

To minimize this change's impact on existing larger Shared Drives, we will be granting those drives extra storage. OIT has already notified people with impacted Shared Drives with additional information.

Why is Google Shared Drive storage changing?

Google has announced new storage limits for Google Workspace for Education, and reducing Shared Drive storage is a first step in preparation for this upcoming change. Currently, the total storage for individual UNLVMail and Rebelmail accounts has not changed, although there will be limits on overall drive storage in the future.

What do I need to do to prepare for this change?

Please review your Shared Drive storage usage and delete old Shared Drive files or move them to your My Files folder. You can also delete an entire Shared Drive that you no longer need. You must have content manager access to delete or move Shared Drive files.

Thank you for your understanding and your help in reducing our storage usage. Please visit our Shared Drives knowledge base article for more information on these upcoming Shared Drive storage changes, including how to request more storage for your Shared Drive(s).
