Upcoming Network Maintenance, Week of August 12

Work to replace damaged network fiber and a wireless network outage to upgrade software is planned for this week, Aug. 12-15. Network equipment in one of the data centers will also be replaced the same week. This scheduled maintenance is necessary to maintain the network’s performance and reliability.

TBE Data Center Outage, 10 p.m. Aug. 12 to 2 a.m. Aug. 13
Network equipment in the Thomas T. Beam Engineering Complex Data Center is being replaced. This routine maintenance requires a data center outage from 10 p.m. Aug. 12 to 2 a.m. Aug. 13. Campus services will remain available, but users may experience brief interruptions with internet connectivity or delays accessing some campus applications.

Damaged Fiber Replacement, 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Aug. 14
The campus network, emergency phones, wireless (WiFi) service, and other connectivity may be briefly interrupted in multiple locations from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14 while damaged fiber providing network connectivity to parts of campus is replaced.

To reach Police Services during the Aug. 14 maintenance window, dial 702-895-3669 for an emergency, 702-895-3668 for non-emergencies, or through the RebelSAFE mobile app using a mobile device.

WiFi Network Outage, 9 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. Aug. 15
A brief WiFi network outage is planned for routine software upgrades from 9 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15. Eduroam, UNLV-Sponsored, and UNLV-PSK networks will be temporarily unavailable during the maintenance period. The WiFi network at the Thomas & Mack Center won’t be impacted by this outage.
