New Okta Verify Multifactor Authentication Requirement

Starting Sept. 23, graduate and professional students will need to use Okta Verify to log into campus applications with their ACE account for a faster, more secure multifactor (MFA) experience. All other students and academic faculty must switch to Okta Verify by Oct. 1.

Switch to Okta Verify Now
To avoid delays in accessing services, students and academic faculty can switch to Okta Verify with these easy enrollment steps. Add Okta Verify to multiple devices to ensure they can still access services, even if they forget their primary device. Students and academic faculty should contact the IT Help Desk if they changed their device or need another secure MFA option if Okta Verify isn’t the best option for them.

Why Okta Verify?
Okta Verify’s enhanced security features help prevent unauthorized access to a student’s ACE account and sensitive information.

  • One-tap push notifications sent directly to device or one-time code generated in the app
  • Works with or without cell and internet connections and internationally
  • Multiple devices can be enrolled in Okta Verify, like a smartphone and tab

The move to Okta Verify comes as SMS text messaging is no longer available as an MFA option due to security concerns. Learn why Okta Verify is more secure and reliable than SMS text messaging.

What to Expect When Okta Verify is Required
If they already use Okta Verify, students and academic faculty will tap the push notification sent to their device or enter the code in the Okta Verify app when logging into campus applications. If they don’t have Okta Verify or another MFA option, they’ll be prompted to set up Okta Verify on their first ACE login - starting Sept. 23 for graduate and professional students and by Oct. 1 for remaining students and academic faculty.
