UNLV IT AI Statement
Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the landscape of higher education and guidelines are continuously evolving at local, state, and federal levels. At UNLV Information Technology, we support the university’s position to empower our campus community in exploring the use of generative AI technology across academic, research, and administrative endeavors.
We promote responsible usage of AI tools in our higher education environment. It is up to you to be aware of the guidelines and understand current UNLV, NSHE, state, and federal data security and privacy policies and regulations. You are also encouraged to use AI products approved and supported by us.
As interest and the use of this technology continues to grow at UNLV, we are committed to adapting to the rapid changes of AI and the needs of our students, faculty, and staff. We want to give you space to explore generative AI tools in your courses and daily work activities while supporting collaborative discussions about the implications of generative AI. We also encourage you to engage with us as partners in AI projects when possible.
Your feedback will help us understand how AI is being used and identify areas where we can provide additional support. It will also help us better tailor the AI usage guidelines and offer suggestions to our campus community on how to securely and safely leverage generative AI to advance learning, research, and the university’s Top Tier 2.0 vision.
