Hundreds of graduating students started planning for graduation day in December, attending Grad Fest on Oct. 11 at the Richard Tam Alumni Center to order caps and gowns, purchase graduation invitations, and learn about services for alumni.

This was the first time the Office of Information Technology participated in Grad Fest. The unit was invited by the Alumni Association to promote IT services and provide support to students who are transitioning to life after UNLV.

Nick Azua, senior IT support specialist, Jacob House, IT support specialist, Nick Panissidi, senior IT training & communications supervisor, and Chinam Seto, senior IT application administrator, provided students with information on how to activate their Rebel Alumni Mail accounts.

According to Azua and Seto, graduating students can use their alumni email for job searches and networking opportunities.

As UNLV alumni, students had the opportunity to sign up for a LastPass Premium account to create and store all their passwords in one place. The accounts are free while the university offers the service.

Azua and Seto thought the event was a great way to connect with students and inform them about IT services that are available after they graduate from UNLV.

The Office of Information Technology is already scheduled to participate in the next Grad Fest, which will be held March 5, 2024.
